CANOE -- CNEWS - Canada: Police follow leads on missing baby
St. Thomas police "hope for the best, but fear for the worst" in their investigation into the disappearance of a month-old infant.
The baby has been missing since Sept. 20 when her mother, Sara Whittington, was found alone and confused inside her locked Confederation Drive apartment.
Whittington was apparently suffering from a complication related to diabetes that may have affected her memory. She spent five days in intensive care in hospital, then moved into her parents' home.
Police have urged the public to come forward with information to determine Whittington's whereabouts from when she was last seen with the baby at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 and until she was found.
Nielsen said the public has come forward with helpful tips and urged them to continue combing their memories.
"Obviously, we haven't found the baby yet, but all these leads our officers are following up on. We're police officers, so we always hope for the best and fear for the worst."
