The Foreign Ministry expressed shock Sunday over what it termed "the criminal act of arson" in the Baptist Church compound on October 23.

The ministry's statement called for a "maximal effort" to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

Freedom of religion and ritual are fundamental rights in the state of Israel, the statement added, and no radical elements would be allowed to hurt them.
